WARRANTY
What's covered, for how long, and how a claim gets handled. Every term on this page is the actual policy.
This page is the Thorion Optics Limited Warranty.
7 DAYS / ARRIVAL
Dead, damaged, or not as described on arrival: covered in full, shipping both ways on me.
90 DAYS / TUBE
All tubes are covered against functional failure for 90 days from delivery, excluding tubes explicitly stated to not have coverage.
1 YEAR / WORKMANSHIP
If it fails because of how I built it within a year, I fix it free of charge.
Every unit is tested, photographed, and serial-documented before it leaves the bench. That record is the baseline for every claim. If something is wrong because of how I built it, I fix it. If a tube dies early, I make it right. If the unit gets dropped off a roof, that one is not on me and will require repair/replacement costs.
This Limited Warranty applies to the original purchaser only, is tied to the tubes serial number, and is not transferable. All coverage runs from the date of delivery.
Returns for reasons other than defects are a separate thing, covered on the shipping page.
If your unit arrives dead, damaged, or not as described, contact me within 7 days of delivery. I cover it in full, including shipping in both directions. Repair, replacement, or refund, whichever gets you whole fastest.
On escrow purchases this window runs alongside the GunTab inspection period. Same clock, same protection, neutral third party holding the money.
Visible shipping damage: photograph the box and packaging and report it within 48 hours. Every package ships insured for full value, and a clean record makes the carrier claim go through without a fight.
Used and surplus tubes, including Omni contract pulls and second hand IIT's, are covered for 90 days from delivery against functional failure. That means a tube that dies, will not hold gain, or drops below usable performance. This does not include user-induced failures such as blemishes and impact damage.
Every tube's condition is photographed and documented before sale, blems included. That documentation is the baseline a claim gets measured against.
Not covered: Gradual dimming, EBI drift, and scintillation consistent with the tube's age. That is normal aging on all IIT's, and it is priced in from the start. If your build uses a new tube with factory coverage, your listing and quote will say so, and the manufacturer's warranty passes through to you.
Collimation, wiring and pigtail work, housing assembly, and tube fitment. If any of it drifts or fails because of how I put it together, I fix it free for one year from delivery.
Past the year mark the direct line stays open. I will always take a look at a unit I built, and sometimes conduct repairs on other night vision units.
Tubes sold outside a full build carry a 5-day evaluation window: The tube arrives functional and as described, or it comes back in the same condition it arrived in. Once the window closes, or the tube goes into a housing I did not build, coverage ends. I cannot provide coverage for a tube running in someone else's assembly.
Want full coverage on everything, not just the tube? Have me build it. Full builds carry the 90-day tube and 1-year workmanship terms above.
Accessories are covered for 30 days from delivery. Defective items get replaced. If I cannot replace one, you get a refund. Normal wear is not covered.
Coverage ends if the failure comes from any of the following:
- Impact or drop damage
- Water ingress
- Damage occurring from opening the housing
- Burn-in from lasers or deliberate bright-source exposure
- Damages resulting from modifications or repair work by anyone else
- Battery leakage from AA batteries left installed for prolonged periods
- Cosmetic wear from normal use
Serial number of the tube must match prior records. No serial match = different tube, no coverage. (Unless stated otherwise, i.e., standalone housing sold with a lifetime warranty from Thorion Optics)
01 Contact me with your issue, documentation of the problem, and any additional information. I respond within 24 to 48 hours.
02 Most issues get diagnosed from photos. If it needs the bench, you ship it in. After the 7-day arrival window, the buyer covers shipping to the shop and I cover the trip back.
03 Repair comes first. Most fixes are bench work and turn around fast.
04 If the unit cannot be repaired, I replace the failed component with an equivalent or better.
05 If I cannot source a replacement within 45 days, you get a refund, back to the account that paid.
It is the buyers responsibility to ensure that the unit arrives to the workshop safely and intact. I will provide instructions and tips on how to ship a night vision device through the mail, but it is ultimately your responsibility to follow through.
